Next we adventured up to Jacksonville. Due to the amount of storms that could have hit we traded in our camping tent for a Raddison. We blindly wondered through the town searching for anything Jacksonville had to offer.
Last we stayed the night in Saint Augustine. What a blast!!!
There was several firsts on this vacation for both of us... first rental of a scooter, first ferry ride, first fried alligator tail and Dave & Busters. All in all this was a great trip!
Jeremy, Jessica, Jeremey and I at Park Place
On 301 to Jacksonville. If you look really close you will see we found Waldo!
Welcome to Jacksonville
Jacksonville Zoo.
A small Timcua Indian hut at Fort Caroline, Jacksonville.
A replica of Fort Caroline.
After a very long hike though an old French trail we drove up the road to the Ribault monument. Absolutely stunning view. If I were to have a monument this is exactly where I would want it.
From there we took a ferry to Fort George Island. I was like a child, it was so cool!
Kingston Plantation. One of the first Black slave owner.
The view from the main house back porch. Jealous?
The ruins of the slave quarters contructived with coquina. There was about 15 or 20 houses to hold all 80 slave families.
Look really close. Our mode of transportation. We got to St Augustine too early and everything was closed. (get there after 10 or 11 am) So we thought on a whim that a scooter would be a great idea..it was! We just drove around down town until it opened not to mention we drove it to the light house which is on A1A. I should also add that this hog tops out at 35mph.
Castillo de Sanmarco, Saint Augustine.
Up 219 steps of the light house beach side.
Jeremey and I found my weakness daquiri. I had several. This restaurant is actually haunted. The home owner was murdered in his bathtub upstairs.
After several drinks we wondered to George street and tried on every hat available. That was so much fun!
Out to dinner. Definitely go here if you get the chance.
Jeremey sporting his new hat back to the hotel to enjoy our last day of vacation. We spent most of the night by the pool with a butt load of "college age" kids.
Ending the night and vacation beautifully with this view from our hotel window.
It is so unfair that you have had 2 vacations in like a month and I havn't had one in 3 yrs!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had fun though, how did you like the room service?
Hey, Waldo is right near my parents house, its really an exciting as you could probably tell, lol! I like the hat Jeremy picked, it is very Joe McIntrye-ish! I am glad you all had fun, now if I could just get ole Lukey to take me somewhere nice!
ReplyDeleteAnd what the hell is Carol talking about, she practically lives at the beach, jets off to TN, Miami..her whole life is a vacation!
